Vietnam recorded a trade deficit of more than 3 billion USD, despite an increase in exports, in the first five months of 2015, according to the most recent statistics released by the Vietnam Customs agency.
In the period, total exports were valued at 63.45 billion USD, a 7.7 percent increase, equivalent to 4.55 billion USD, on a yearly basis.
In terms of imports, the total value reached 66.5 billion USD, up by 16.4 percent or 9.36 billion USD.
As a result, there was a 3.05 billion USD deficit in trade in the first five months of 2015.
Total import –export turnover for the period reached 129.94 billion USD, up 12 percent from the figure for the same period last year.-VNA.
